Details
The Trades and Labour Council was formed by six Unions in 1871. It covered both skilled craft unions and the new labourers' unions. In 1894, the Trades & Labor Council of Sydney became the Sydney District of Australasian Labour Federation. It changed names again six years later in 1900 to the Sydney Labor Council. In 1908, the name was yet again changed to the Labor Council of New South Wales.
