Title
National Mobilisation: Mass Non-violent Sit-in at the Prime Minister’s Lodge, Canberra ACT
Imprint
Draft Resistance Movement, May 1968
Abstract

A six-page circular distributed prior to the mobilisation to protest against the imprisonment of conscientious objectors Denis O’Donnell and Desmond Phillipson in Holsworthy Military Prison (NSW). Main organisers of the mobilisation were the Draft Resistance Movement and the Melbourne University Pacifist Society. The sit-in duly took place and resulted in over eighty arrests. The arrestees filled the Canberra lock-up overnight and were paraded (all singing ‘Solidarity Forever’) before the Magistrate the following day. - [Ken Mansell]
