Details

Anarchism is a form of political thought in which society is conceived without government.

There is a long tradition of anarchist activism in Australia, dating back to the nineteenth century - the Melbourne Anarchist Club was formed in 1886. However, anarchist forms of radical politics have generally been marginalised, in particular by Marxism.

In recent decades anarchism has been influential, in particular in counter-cultural youth politics and anti-globalisation movements.
