Details

A Trotskyist youth organisation that emerged out of the Sydney University Socialist Club and the Vietnam Action Campaign. An early incarnation (c 1967) was known as Resistance; it became the Socialist Youth Alliance in 1970.
The group supported the paper Direct Action.

Members of the SYA formed the Socialist Workers League in 1972, an orthodox Trotskyist (Mandelite) organisation that eventually became the Socialist Workers Party and then the Democratic Socialist Party. The Socialist Youth Alliance changed its name back to Resistance in 1980.
